The name of the seminar, "Convergence", is a reflection of De Marque's philosophy: "to strive for a common goal, to seek similar outcomes". All partners invited to this event are growing along with Cantook and share similar objectives: to play an active role in the evolution of the ebook industry and to take advantage of new possibilities for spreading culture and seizing opportunities available through technology and the Web to promote diversity in the digital publishing world.
Before we focus our attention on the future, a state of play is necessary. We propose an overview of the current state of the ebook industry through an analysis of each of market in which the Cantook technology is used and a discussion on current directions and trends. With this, The groundwork for the Seminar will be set.
The transition to digital in library markets is experiencing remarkable growth, as a noticeable worldwide adoption of e-lending technology is underway. We will discuss this trend and the success factors that fuel it, as well as the opportunities it presents to publishers.
A roundtable discussion featuring Jean-François Cusson (BIBLIOPRESTO.CA), Alexandre Lemaire (Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles) and Francesca Noia (Edigita).
Having talked about the current state of ebooks and reflected on its possibilities, we will devote the final half-day of the Seminar to discussing our common priorities. What are they? What is an ebook’s lifecycle? How can Cantook technology be harnessed in your strategies and actions? And how can we effectively combine our efforts to reach our goals?
